Every x-ray we take is reviewed by a board certified radiologist. Being able to ‘see’ on the inside of a patient is paramount to providing outstanding medical care. Digital X-ray services are available at all our hospitals.
We have digital radiography, ultrasound and echocardiography and endoscopy available. Our veterinarians are trained in the use of these advanced diagnostic tools which could save you a trip to a referral practice.
The addition of digital radiography to our practice has pushed us a quantum step forward in the way x-ray images are processed and viewed. The fast capture speeds of our x-ray unit and the elimination of film processing and handling have made our radiology service second to none. The resolution is also improved and the images are electronically transferred (via the internet) to our radiologist for expert interpretation. Your pet’s x-rays are completed more quickly and with less stress.
Consequently, diagnoses and treatment are more rapid and accurate thereby shortening the average hospital stay. Few practices can combine this level of accuracy and efficiency so that diagnosis and treatments are accurate and timely.
To make the best possible x-rays, your pet must be calm, relaxed and comfortable. Although the actual taking of the x-ray occurs within a split second, inappropriate movement during that time (by a nervous or uncomfortable pet) can result in a “blurred” image. Because your pet cannot be told to remain calm, the use of sedatives and analgesics (pain killers) to facilitate taking proper x-rays is common. In some cases (for example, x-rays of the skull), full anesthesia will be necessary to ensure the best possible result.
This non-invasive, state-of-the-art technology uses sound waves to painlessly examine specific internal organs, primarily the heart and abdominal organs. Pregnancy exams are also available.
