Laser Declawing & Tendonectomy

We believe that in many cases removing the toenails of cats can be avoided. In the cases where behavioral modification and training can not correct unwanted scratching and clawing behaviors, we offer declawing and tendonectomy. Laser declawing is available at our Temple Terrace Animal & Bird Hospital office.

We also offer the Tendonectomy procedure. In this procedure in lieu of removing the entire toenail, we cut the tendon in the toe that causes retraction. This procedure is advised for older cats, heavier cats and is considered ‘less traumatic’. The healing time associated with this procedure is significantly less than conventional declaw or laser declaw.
